Tuned Out It Wasn’t Me

I heard the tuned and hammered string
Strike out a note that I could sing
In that moment I would bring
A voice among the choir

I harmonize in David’s chord!
A thought my head could not afford
The Devil, friends, does not get bored
Waiting by the fire

Soon I sang another strain
Of voices only in my brain
If I’ve a part, why not the main?
For that’s the heart’s desire

But when I sang the Song of Me
Absent both the One and Three
I found no part in Harmony
The situation dire

Here’s the lesson fast and loose
A halo slipped becomes a noose
Turns out it has another use
Just like piano wire
