Outside The Box Thinking and A Bumper Sticker

The dreamers were promised a path to citizenship in 2001. They’re still waiting, pushed aside by the tide of illegals. So here’s a thought that occurred today as I watched a twitchy little brown man stare at me from the kitchen door of a Peruvian restaurant. Half of him anyway, he was that anxious not to be spotted. At 75, I’m pretty sure I don’t look like a law enforcement threat.

We can’t live like this. And nobody has a new idea how to solve it. So here’s what a cup of coffee’s rumination came up with.

Complete and total amnesty for every currently deportable alien,on day one, with full citizenship within five years. No cops will be looking for you, starting now. Your worries about ICE are gone in an instant. In five years, if you don’t break any law, you will be a full US citizen.

And in exchange, there will be this one requirement, non negotiable. Every single person of deportable status must move to one designated area of the county for those five years.

They cannot except for verified medical emergencies spend more than forty eight hours outside the designated location. This will of course be enforced with some enthusiasm by ICE, since they’ll have nothing else to do.

The estimates are between twelve and twenty million people are deportable by US law. The cost, in dollars and judicial hours, of giving them each a hearing is simply prohibitive.

So, let’s give each of them this choice. Return to your country or accept this amnesty offer. You can be a citizen in five years if you agree to the government’s terms. All that is required is that you and your votes must live in one designated area of the country.

Let’s Give Them LA.
